Leader finished.

I worked out the measurements of this fellow, in comparison to his more squat brethren. Scaled up, the normal vikings are approx five foot five while this fellow weighs in at a whopping six foot nine.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of the finished (aprat from basing) model.

The rune on his shield, in case you're curious, is meant to attract wealth and prosperity to the wearer. Appropriate somehow, for a looter, I thought.

  1. Hi...one thing..change your profile...you say you are a poor quality painter...IMHO that´s not the case...the vikings you have done, for example are top.:-)
    Cheers

  2. I agree with Paul, you're a pretty good painter.

Are you sure this figure is a Viking and not a later Norman? I ask because of the kite shaped shield, never seen that with Vikings.

  3. Thank you both for your kind words, I'm flattered. I think the poor camera hides a lot of faults with my brush work, though. lol

As for the figure, yes, you're right, it's not a Viking, it's Harold Godwinson from Gripping Beast. So, technically he's a Saxon, but I have always wanted to paint the figure, so I thought I'd allow myself one historical inaccuracy. My reasoning was, the shield's on his back, no one will see it. ;)

    However, good spot. :D
