Sorry that I've not blogged in so long, I have been busy, plus the death of my Grandfather have all taken precedence over keeping this updated, however, I have recently begun painting again and so I thought, as an end to a strange year, I'd try to get back into this blogging lark.

What painting I have been doing, has been completely alien to the original topic of the blog, however, my interest is currently focused upon the Winter War, Stalingrad and, in no large part due to Warlord Games' Rorke's Drift set, the Anglo Zulu War.

So, enough chat:

BAM Poles painted as Winter War Finns:

Some Naval forces from the Soviet stable, equipped with a mixture of black and army green, to represent their kit being replaced as the naval stuff wore out.

And finally, while twiddling my thumbs impatiently for my boxes of Zulu from Warlord/Empress to arrive (it'll be the new year now) the only figures I have in my collection: The historical heroes of Rorke's Drift.

Lt. Chard.

Lt. Bromhead.

Colour-Sergeant Bourne.

Pte. Hook.

Well, that's all for now, dear Reader, so, if I don't get time to blog again before the end of the year, I wish you a very merry Christmas and a good start to the new year.

Thanks for reading.

Samurai again.

I am spending a lot of time painting up my Napoleonic troops, but as a break, I've been dipping my toe into Samurai waters.

These have been posted before, with one addition. The Ko-Uma-Jirushi carrier. My Japanese doesn't stretch much beyond Watashi wa hon o yomimasu and once we leave the realm of Romaji and head into Kanji, I'm even more adrift, so I am hopeful about the writing on the banner, rather than confident. I had to try it though, a geometric symbol felt like a cop-out.

The chap behind the Ashigaru on the left is my fictional Samurai's Tsukai-ban, the Ashigaru are the Takeda Samurai's personal attendants.

Samurai are finished

Just a few shots of the finished samurai:

and a quick, rough, blurry shot of some vikings that I've finished and based. Better shots of those to come.

Absence and Samurai wip

Sorry for the complete lack of updates, I finally got my finger out and applied for my PhD and so have been preoccupied writing proposals and sorting funding. However, as I've now been accepted, I have had a few weeks to get back into the swing of painting, so I decided to dip my toe into the world of Perry Samurai.

Still wip, I need to finish basing and add the Sashimono, but I'm rather pleased with how they're turning out.
